Classic Muscle Car Series
Classic Muscle Car Series
In this Classic Muscle Car Showdown I would like to have an expanded list of American muscle cars offered, but keep them closer to their stock set-ups in a lower class compared to the Trans-Am series. Before going much further, please know this will be C class series with no rear aero. The following lobby settings will also be enforced:
Damage will be set to simulation
Simulation Steering will be forced on
Force off STM
Force off TCS
Force off ABS
As always, there are some important details in this post that are also in "spoilers" so please be sure to click those links. Failure to comply with regulations below may result in disqualification. Please also be sure to review the MSM Rules of the Road and Race Regulations as well:

Please be sure your MSM number is clearly shown on your car. The number can be placed anywhere. There are no other livery requirements for this series.
We'll be running two races per weekend, using the following circuits and dates. There will be a three lap qualifier, the first even by lobby points, then a second event by reverse lobby points.
Week #1
Camino Viejo Circuit Full: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
Camino Viejo Circuit Reverse: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
July 29 - 4:00 PM EST / 8:00 GMT / 09:00 PM BST
Week #2
Sebring Short Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
Indianapolis Grand Prix Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
August 5 - 4:00 PM EST / 8:00 GMT / 09:00 PM BST
Week #3
Road Atlanta Full Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
Sedona Club Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
August 12 - 4:00 PM EST / 8:00 GMT / 09:00 PM BST
Week #4
Laguna Seca Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
Infineon NASCAR Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
August 19 - 4:00 PM EST / 8:00 GMT / 09:00 PM BST
Week #5
Sunset Club Reverse Circuit: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
Maple Valley Reverse: 20 laps (pit window 5 - 15)
August 26 - 4:00 PM EST / 8:00 GMT / 09:00 PM BST
The grid order will be set by lobby points after qualifying. The qualifying will be 3 laps on the first track. When possible, we'll use the early day setting for qualification, and the later day for the race.
In the event of a crash involving two or more cars that causes ANY damage on lap 1, we will restart the race only once. There will be no restart after the second attempt or after the 1st lap.

Scoring:
- Spoiler:
Points are awarded for the top ten only, as below:
1. 15
2. 13
3. 11
4. 9
5. 8
6. 7
7. 6
8. 5
9. 4
10. 3
Scoring will be first divided by make (Mopar, Ford, and GM) and by individual drivers. The points for the manufacturers will be for the top two in each make. For example, if the results are below:
1. Ford
2. Mopar
3. Mopar
4. Ford
5. GM
6. Mopar

Then the Mopar team will get points for the 2 and 3 places, Ford would get points for the 1 and 7 places, and GM would get points for the 5 and 8 places.

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
Oh nice, haven't seen a series like this since I joined with the TranAm series passing by.
I must ask however I'm a bit confused with the scoring. Will there be individual scoring as well as group scoring with the companies and whatnot? Or am I confusing that with something?

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
This sounds right up my street, so i'll do the honours and be first 2nd to sign up. My weapon of choice will be from the GM stable in the form of a 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans-am.

There will be a scoring table for both manufacturer and for individual drivers.

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
Nice. Drat, now I'm torn. I have noooo idea what to choose. I think I should aim for a TransAm Firebird, there's more PI to work with.
EDIT: Dammit Snip. xD

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
Nice timing, just as I was about to ask if anything got planned for after BP. I can keep my idea in the fridge for a while then. I'm definitely in, on the days that I can of course. I can understand most of the restrictions forced off, in C class this shouldn't be that hard, and muscle cars wouldn't be the same without a bit of a wobble and wheel spin. Only simulation steering might pose a problem for the wheel users (Fanatec themselves stated that simulation steering overacts when using a wheel, making it very hard to keep control and is less realistic than normal steering). Not that we have many wheel drivers.

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
when you limit drive train swaps, you are not referring to upgrading the drive train...just the swaps, correct?

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
Yeah, only the swaps (far right icon on the tuning shop). You can do the transmission/clutch/... upgrades.

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
Yay! Of course im going to have to go with something from the GM lineup....but what to choose.....
no TCS STM or ABS makes this even more like the real thing
All i have to do know is pick a car and paint it.......Im going to go with a simple yet classic look
(Wow.....July is almost over)

Oh boy. Back to basics. Let's get to testing, sooo many choices. Awesome. It's Sandusky time, and these cars can take a beating.

Re: Classic Muscle Car Series
If there are three drivers that decide to use a Pontiac by the first race weekend, I will score those drivers as a separate manufacturer.

The Plymouth Baracuda is just too mean looking in race trim. I need to get it running fast.
